Original Little House on the Prairie Cabin Site
Did you know that the official historic site of the Little
House on the Prarie is located southwest
of Independence, Kansas (not Missouri). There was a small log cabin that was rebuilt by heart warming local
volunteers after reading the description found in Laura Ingalls Wilder's book. All
the references to surrounding terrain can be found a short distance from the reconstructed
cabin. Whether it's really the true log cabin site remains to be proven but the state of Kansas has declared the location of the rebuilt cabin as the official site.
